    5.0 out of 5 stars It's not hardcover., March 14, 2010

I fell in love with these cards when my friend let me borrow her deck. I immediately knew I had to have my own. Since the original set was released many years back, the deck has been reworked. Apparently the images are sharper and the colors brighter, and the borders on the cards have been eliminated so that the entire card is filled with tapestry. I Ass-u-me-d that since the set advertised here was released in 2009 that they would be the newer version of the card design. They are not, but that is really not a problem, I love these cards. The book here advertised is hardcover, which I wanted, but what I received is not hardcover. Oh well, the interpretation is lovely, and that IS what I really wanted. Buyer Beware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Interpretation, May 30, 2010
This review is from: The Enchanted Tarot: Book and Tarot Deck (Paperback)
I've owned this set for years and while not exactly a "reader", I'm most certainly a collector of Tarot decks. This deck is one of the prettiest and loveliest interpretations I've seen. The vintage images and the tapestries on each card are just gorgeous. I love to just pull a card out of the deck at random and read the interpretation in the accompanying book. Lovely way to start my day.

2.0 out of 5 stars awful cards!, May 31, 2011
This review is from: The Enchanted Tarot: Book and Tarot Deck (Paperback)
Although the accompanying book is very nice, and the artwork of the cards is quite lovely, the cards themselves are HORRIBLE! They are a very thick, stiff cardboard--almost like a baby's book. They do not feel natural to work with in my hands and are nearly impossible to shuffle due to their stiffness and size. Beware!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book and Beautiful Deck, July 28, 2007

This review is from: Easy Tarot: Learn to Read the Cards Once and For All! (Cards)
I purchased this set a few months ago and am really enjoying both the book and the deck. I have numerous decks that I have collected over the years, one or two of which I have consistently gone back to as they have felt most comfortable for me. However, since receiving this set I very rarely use any of my other decks - I simply love the artwork of the Ciro Marchetti deck and really connect with the images.

In addition, although I've been reading for many years, I enjoy exploring others' interpretations of the cards as I feel I am often able to gain additional perspectives and insights into the images, and I believe that really understanding and connecting with tarot is an ongoing, ever-expanding journey. Josie has done a wonderful job of explaining the cards' imagery, interpretations, and inter-relationships, as well as covering other very important topics that can really benefit those students new to tarot, as well as those of us looking to deepen our knowledge... "When the time comes and you have someone sitting in front of you for a reading, the bottom line is this--they don't care how much technical knowledge you may have. They don't want to be blinded by science or your amazing knowledge (however great it may be). What they want is an accurate reading...end of story." - From the Easy Tarot Handbook

Using the popular Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti, U.K. resident Josephine Ellershaw teaches Tarot newcomers how to learn the cards step-by-step using her own method she calls The Tarot Technique. Stressing the importance of maintaining a Tarot diary and getting to know the cards one at a time, Ms. Ellershaw leads readers by the hand in the Easy Tarot Kit, encouraging patience and focus along the journey.

This review is from: Easy Tarot: Learn to Read the Cards Once and For All! (Cards)
I ordered this card deck with the book in August ('09) and I was so pleased when i received the deck! It's beautifully designed with compelling artwork that depicts the interpretation of each card so clearly. The deck is easy to manuever and shuffle ... and the glossy finish feels rich yet not slippery in your hands when shuffling. Now here's the problem... I decided to COUNT the cards in my deck this morning... just some nagging feeling that's been on my mind for a few days so since it was a saturday and i had a few extra minutes i decided to count all the cards in the deck and discovered to my horror that i am missing (YES ...MISSING!!) 6 cards: the KINGS of each suit as well as the Queens from the Pentacles and Swords. I'm horrified. I've been using these cards for a month and NOW i learn that the deck is not complete... and not just missing ONE card.. it's missing 6!!! So if you purchase this deck which i would highly recommend doing because it's worth it... i would just... Read more

You can see pictures of the cards on a number of tarot deck websites, so I won't spend a lot of time on them here. If you're an art deck collector, this is probably already on your LustList. If not, you want to know how it *reads*.

First, there's no nudity in this deck, which to many readers who read at public fairs, is a huge relief. (The Lovers are semi-nude, but tastefully photoshopped). It's a darkish deck--moons appear in every card--but the overall tone is not particularly shadowy or bleak to me, as many 'darker' decks are. The symbolism is strongly reliant on RWS, so owners of other 'standard' decks can probably jump right in with readings. Some differences exist--the Hanged Man, for example, has both legs straight instead of the standard 'figure four', the Devil doesn't have a scary guy with horns--but all in all your RWS deck skills will transfer pretty seamlessly. Many symbols repeat throughout the deck, like waterfalls and ravens, that are not standard,... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice artwork stifled, November 24, 2008
This review is from: Mystic Dreamer Tarot (Book & Cards) (Paperback)
I waited with anticipation for this deck to come out, watching it's progress on the artists website. The artwork is lovely, unfortunately you still need to go to the mentioned website to appreciate it. The cards have an awful greenish-brown border which makes the images smaller, so that much of the detail is lost. The colors also seem muddy in comparison to the original art. For instance on the Star card, the detail of the rocks is completely gone and looks like a black mass. On the 4 of cups card, there is a castle, burro and stag in the background but you need a magnifying glass to see them. Unfortunately, this is true of quite a few other cards. This could have all been fixed by Llewelyn, who should have eliminated the border entirely and perhaps even made the cards bigger. Barbara Moore is an excellent writer, but I find her "use your intuition" questions in place of the cards interpretation rather bothersome. This is an art deck, with design based on the artists aesthetics and... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars I use this deck more than any other, but...., July 28, 2010
This review is from: Mystic Dreamer Tarot (Book & Cards) (Paperback)
there are a few things I don't like about it. I was originally attracted to the artwork and after I used the deck for a while it soon became my favorite out of about a dozen decks. Most of the images are great and I get great readings, I agree with some other reviews that there are a few that seem a little jarring if you are assuming the traditional meaning. It is definitely a feminine deck with female figures in many of the traditional male cards, I happen to like that.
I would have given this deck an enthusiastic 5 stars until I went to the artist's website and saw the original work. Stunningly beautiful with vibrant colors. Llewellyn really messed this deck up. The yellow tones and the borders taking up so much space to not do justice to the original images. If it is ever reprinted in full color and a slightly bigger size I would grab one.
